Bowlathon

The Bowlathon started over two decades ago as an annual scholarship fundraising tradition but recently evolved into an event that supports the Center for Community Engagement as well as scholarships for students with financial need who attended a high school within a 20-mile radius of Eastern's campus.

Students, faculty and staff, alumni and local businesses send teams to Lucky Strike Lanes in Coventry in March to participate in the Bowlathon. Each team consists of four bowlers and each bowler must raise a minimum of $30 to participate. This event has raised as much as $15,000 in a given fiscal year. Potter's Oil is the longest standing sponsor of this event.

Golf Tournament

Eastern has held this annual tournament at beautiful Lake of Isles since 2006. This has been a wonderful event as Eastern has generated over $1 million during that time span, including $65,000 this year. The proceeds from this tournament support scholarships for students with financial need as well as the Eastern intercollegiate athletic program.

Special kudos to Chartwells for its generous leadership level sponsorship support over the years. Other key sponsors who have been supporting this event during the past decade include: Barnes & Noble, BlumShapiro, CFM Construction, Kell-Strom Tool, KeyBank, Savings Institute Bank & Trust, WalMart and Windham Pepsi.

"Music to Our Ears" Concert

Since 2012 Eastern has worked closely with Kathy Regan-Pyne '79, a past Distinguished Alumni award recipient and a member of the Mohegan Tribal Council, on an annual Mohegan Sun Sky Box cocktail reception, dinner and performance as a special scholarship fundraiser. Titan Energy has served as the title sponsor of the Music to Our Ears event since its inception in 2012.

The private 125-seat Sky Box has been packed to capacity for the following concerts: June 2012 - Neil Diamond; November 2013 - Keith Urban; July 2014 - Justin Timberlake; October 2016 - Carrie Underwood; November 2017 - Lady Gaga; and March 2019 - Kelly Clarkson. These fabulous events support the John F. Kearney, Jr. '75 Memorial Endowed Scholarship and the Mohegan Tribe Scholarship.
