Eastern takes pride in its 30,000 living alums, some of whom attended when it was known as the Willimantic State Teachers College over 60 years ago. Despite changes in its name, the addition of new buildings, and an increase in student population, Eastern has remained a community of learners bound by shared values and a unified educational experience. The university maintains strong ties with its alums through social gatherings, professional networking, and alumni services. Furthermore, Eastern's alumni support current students through scholarship funds, internship placements, mentorships, and other forms of assistance.

Alumni Testimonials

Timothy Bugden ’14
Hydrologic Modeling

Timothy Bugden ’14

Environmental Earth Science major Timothy Bugden earned his M.S. in hydrology at the University of Connecticut and works as a CAD draftsman at OneEarth Environmental. “Eastern was nothing short of extraordinary. I flourished under the instruction of exceptionally motivated professors and enjoyed the camaraderie of my fellow EES students. I shudder to think of the opportunities I would have missed had I not enrolled at Eastern.”

Melissa Nosal
Visual Arts

Melissa Nosal ’13

Melissa is the creative content and design coordinator at Harvard Medical School’s Center for Bioethics. “The Visual Arts program laid the groundwork for my knowledge in color theory, page layout, typography and other rules of design. It also introduced me to the creative software I now use daily to create digital illustrations, retouch photos, and design all sorts of materials.”

Morgan Considine ’16
History

Morgan Considine ’16

Morgan is director of data for the Connecticut School Finance Project, an organization that provides nonpartisan information about education finance to state and local governments. “History is intertwined with a lot of subjects, including government. Government analyses are done from a historical perspective; we want to understand what’s been done in the past in order to inform decision making in the present.”
