At the Opportunity Programs (OP), we are committed to supporting and empowering students throughout their journey at Eastern. OP is located in J. Eugene Smith Library, Room 107, which provides a welcoming environment where students can study, socialize, exchange ideas, and seek guidance.
OP provides a wide range of support services to ensure student success both in and out of the classroom. Academic support includes dedicated study hours, a book support, assistance with the university’s laptop program, calculator loaner process, and personalized one-on-one check-ins with staff. OP also offers personal support by providing essential items such as school supplies, toiletries, and laundry supplies when needed. Students are guided in accessing FREE mental health counseling through CAPS and FREE Student Health Services on campus—no insurance is required for these resources. In addition to academic and personal support, OP fosters social engagement by creating opportunities for students to connect through fun and inclusive events like karaoke nights, paint nights, dances, movie nights, game nights, and much more. The program also helps students network with community partners to explore future opportunities and career pathways
