Leeann Rauls ’20

BIOLOGY Major

leeannerauls.pngTo Whom It May Concern,

My name is Leeann Rauls and I am one of the students who received the Brown Endowed Scholarship. I would first like to say thank you for your support, it has lifted a great weight off the burden of paying for school this year.  Receiving this scholarship will allow me to save money from this past summer’s work and allow me to pursue an internship this summer in a field related to my major.

A little about myself—I am in the middle of my junior year at Eastern Connecticut State University working towards a biology degree. From an early age, I knew I had an interest in science and the environment. This coming spring semester I will be beginning research with Dr. Epp in the biology department on animal behavior, more specifically predator responses. This opportunity will give me experience doing ecological research, which I hope to continue doing after college.

With my biology degree I would like to focus on ecology and environmental issues. I once read a quote that went something like “I do not want to protect the environment, I want to create a world where the environment does not need protecting.”  I think this perfectly captures my mentality for the future. I want to help preserve our world for future generations, and this degree is my first stepping stone.

Thank you again for this wonderful contribution to my education. It is greatly appreciated and has made a large financial difference in my life.

Sincerely,
Leeann Rauls
