The Summer Transition to Eastern/Contract Admissions Program (STEP/CAP) at Eastern Connecticut State University started in the early 1980s, with a mission to prepare students for college by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed. The program also provides a supportive transition with well-rounded and proactive academic advising as students shift from high school to college and fosters the development of academic and social skills essential for becoming successful scholars. It also assists in guiding them throughout their tenure at Eastern to ensure they stay on track for graduation

This fund, created by STEP/CAP alumnus, Thomas Gibson '96, is to provide support for STEP/CAP students participating in various high-impact practices, including but not limited to, Study Abroad, Global Field Courses, undergraduate research, and internships.
