Luva Mead Hoar ’42 established this endowed scholarship in 1999 to honor the memory of her longtime friend, Bernice “Bunny” Niejadlik. Ms. Niejadlik graduated from Willimantic State Normal School in 1930 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Willimantic State Teachers College in 1950. She was a former chair of the Connecticut State University Board of Trustees and a past recipient of the ECSU Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award (1970) and the Hermann Beckert “Friends of the University” Award (1989). It is awarded annually to a student majoring in education in good academic standing.
