Warriors participate in annual Plunge for Hunger

The Covenant Soup Kitchen held its 11th annual Plunge for Hunger on Feb. 25. Spearheaded by the Eastern Rugby Club, students and alumni near and far participated remotely by plunging into all bodies of water — from hot tubs to puddles. The rugby team and several alumni gathered at Lauter Park in Willimantic, the Plunge’s home venue, and dove into the icy waters of the Natchaug River. As of Feb. 9, the event has raised $74,000, according to Kimberly Clark, executive director of Covenant. The soup kitchen is still collecting donations, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation. Donate online at https://www.covenantsoupkitchen.org/donation.htm . Be sure to select “Plunge for Hunger” under Gift Type.
