Reporting Faculty Absences

A faculty member, except in unusual or extenuating circumstances, shall give prior notice to his/her Department Chairperson of an impending absence. The faculty member is to notify the department secretary of the day(s) to be taken and the category of absence. If the faculty member is to be absent for a week or more, he/she is to confer with the Department Chairperson, who, with the Dean of the appropriate School, will arrange for a substitute until the faculty member returns. The faculty member is to notify the department secretary of the days to be taken and the category of absence, i.e., illness, personal, religious holiday, etc.

In a case of unexpected absence, the faculty member is to contact the department secretary, who will notify the Department Chairperson and arrange for the posting of a notice to students. Evening faculty must notify the School of Continuing Education.
