Make A Wish Tradition

As we celebrate this special day, we would like to draw your attention to an important Eastern tradition.

The Make A Wish Tradition was created by the Class of 1999.

As first year students, graduating seniors tossed a 1999 penny into the fountain in front of the student center on campus, commemorating the donation of that fountain by the Class of 1999. Students were encouraged to make a wish as they tossed their penny and begin their academic career.

On commencement day, graduating seniors will receive a penny collected from prior classes. Graduates will toss their penny into the fountain as they make a wish, marking it as a year of new beginnings and the start of future success. The Make a Wish procession will proceed directly into the Commencement ceremony.

Thank you very much for acknowledging this important tradition.
