A preschool child uses scissors in an attempt to cut the outline of a gingerbread man he has created. He turns the paper in several different directions, making small cuts on each edge of the paper. A teacher joins him and holds the paper for him as he cuts. She provides verbal feedback and encouragement. After receiving this support, the child continues cutting independently with success.
