Opportunity Programs

Breaking Barriers. Building Futures.

The Office of Opportunity Programs provides high-impact success programs and services for students from underserved and other unique populations — including those who are academically underprepared, under-resourced, first-generation, and/or undocumented. We are committed to removing barriers to access and achievement, partnering with programs such as Achievement First (Hartford & New Haven-Amistad), TheDream.US, Higher Edge, Promise Scholars (Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, & Waterbury), the Hispanic Alliance of Southeastern Connecticut, Independent Youth (DCF), the DC College Advising Program (DCCAP), STEP/CAP, GEAR UP, and CARIBE Bridgeport to ensure every student has the support they need to thrive.

Opportunity Programs staff collaborate across campus to create a student-centered learning environment that fosters academic excellence, student engagement and progress to graduation. The program builds strategic relationships with campus and community partners, community colleges, and alum to expand postsecondary educational opportunities.
