The Financial Aid Office at Eastern Connecticut State University assists parents and students who might not otherwise be able to meet their educational expenses. The staff in the Financial Aid Office is available to assist students, both current and prospective, in determining their eligibility for available financial aid.
|College Goal Sunday October 23, 2016|
In order to facilitate the new FAFSA availability date of October 1, 2016, Eastern will be hosting the 2016 College Goal Sunday (CGS) in order to help student with completing their 2017-2018 FAFSA. The purpose of CGS is to assist students, especially first generation, with completing their FAFSA in a timely manner, so that they can apply for financial aid at their college of choice and increase their ability to receive maximum financial aid.

On Sept. 14, 2015, President Obama announced significant changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) process that will impact millions of students. Starting with the 2017–18 application cycle, the following changes will be put in place:
|Upcoming Changes for 2017-2018|
|FAFSA Submission Date: October 1, 2016||Students will be able to submit a 2017-2018 FAFSA as early as October 1, 2016, rather than beginning on January 1, 2017. For further explanation, click here|
|Financial Aid Priority Deadline: March 1, 2017||The priority deadline is the date you must submit the FAFSA application in order to be considered for the most aid possible|
|Income and Tax Information Reported from: 2015||Beginning with the 2017-2018 FAFSA, students will report income and tax information from an earlier tax year. For further explanation, click here|
Make sure you do these three things when applying for Financial Aid in 2017-2018:
- Submit your 2017-2018 FAFSA before March 1st: Apply as early as October 1st.
- Use the Data Retrieval Tool to link yours and your parent’s tax information:The need for additional paperwork will be reduced, and your award received sooner.
- Check your Eastern email and eWeb Services frequently after submission: Your quick response to office requests will help prevent delays to your financial aid award and payment.
