The Fine Arts Instructional Center

The future of the arts at Eastern is full of promise and activity. The 118,000-square foot, state-of-the-art Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC) opened in January 2016 with instructional classrooms, studios, and performance spaces for the art & art history, music and theatre programs. Three performance spaces provide students with opportunities to practice their skills and present their work while also offering a rich cultural experience for the campus and local communities.

A 400-seat auditorium is tailored to music performances; a 254-seat Proscenium Theatre provides an exciting venue for theatre performances, and a flexible 125-seat Studio Theatre can be arranged in multiple seating configurations. A glass-enclosed movement/dance studio can host intimate dance performances and senior recitals. Art and Art History students will also enjoy two state-of-the-art digital design studios, sculpture facilities, and large printmaking and painting studios.

With general-purpose classrooms and a variety of art courses offered through the liberal arts core curriculum, the new facility will benefit all Eastern students. A new professional art gallery, a resource, and showcase for faculty and student artists, is also open to the public in the new facility. In addition, state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment, professional theatre lighting and sound systems, and other modern arts-related technology in the FAIC provide students with the tools they need to stay current in today's professional art environments.
