Student Support Services

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

  • During the fall 2020 semester, CAPs will conduct one-on-one and group sessions via telehealth to keep staff and students as safe as possible
  • CAPs staff remain available to all students virtually. Students are encouraged to make appointments via telephone and email
  • Students may also complete any paperwork (consent forms, intake forms, etc.) online and submit through email to the office

Accessibility Services (OAS)

  • OAS staff are available to meet with students and faculty virtually or on the telephone for all services offered during the summer and fall 2020 terms
  • The OAS Support Program will remain open to all students, regardless of OAS registration, virtually or on the telephone
  • Events and professional development opportunities will continue to be offered virtually to the campus community
  • The Assistive Technology and Note-Taking Assistance Program will continue to provide physical and A.i supports to students.
  • The physical Testing Center will remain closed for Summer 2020
  • OAS will work with faculty to establish alternative assessment tools for exams
  • The physical Testing Center will reopen for fall 2020 with the following changes:
    • The Testing Center will be open only for students scheduled to take exams at time blocks: 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. This will allow staff and students to follow CDC and Eastern social distancing guidelines. Each proctoring room will be cleaned at the beginning and end of each day and in between each exam.
    • Proctoring rooms will be limited to single students, unless 6 feet of social distancing can be achieved.
    • The Testing Center staff will be available virtually for scheduled exams and professor contact 8 a.m.-5 p.m. OAS staff ask that faculty scan exams to OAS staff at accessability@easternct.edu, if permitted by department.
    • Professors unable to scan exams must schedule contact-less drop off and pickup with OAS staff at (860) 465-0189 or accessability@easternct.edu
    • To assist in limiting Testing Center traffic, OAS will work with faculty to establish alternative assessment tools for exams if needed.

Center for Career and Internship Development (CICD)

Student Conduct

  • All student conduct meetings will take place in person; exceptions will be considered to meet virtually where appropriate
  • Only essential face-to-face meetings will occur in the office (second floor, Wood Hall)

Office of Wellness Education and Promotion

  • Staff will remain available to students. Meetings with students who require an educational mandate will take place in person with attention to social distancing requirements. Face masks will be required while attending meetings.
  • Remote access for meetings will be available when necessary, either virtually or by telephone.
  • Events and activities will take place virtually, with on-ground events complying with capacity limits of 50 persons (indoor) and 100 persons (outdoor), or as required by State guidelines.

Arthur L. Johnson Unity Wing

  • Unity Wing staff will remain available to students and meet with them virtually or on the telephone
  • Doors will be open but the center is only available to staff and one guest at a time
  • Events and activities will take place virtually, with on-ground events complying with capacity limits of 50 persons (indoor) and 100 persons (outdoor)

Sexual Assault & Interpersonal Violence Response Team

  • All student intake meetings will take place in person; exceptions will be considered to meet virtually where appropriate and most accommodating
  • Only essential face-to-face meetings will occur in the office (i.e. Title IX).
