Food Service

  • Hurley Dining Hall and the Student Center Food Court will be open, starting on August 23, 2020, with seating limited based on current Connecticut restaurant guidelines (50% capacity)
  • The Library Café and the Shafer Hall Café will be closed for the fall semester
  • Social distancing, wearing of masks, and other safety protocols must be followed
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner hours of operation will be restricted to allow for cleaning the dining room between meals
  • All plates and utensils will be disposable
  • No self-service “buffets” will be operating; all food will be single-portion and packaged in real time by Chartwells Food Services staff
  • All locations have switched to cashless in efforts to reduce points of contact and due to the national coin shortage  we are experiencing. We are able to accept credit/debit cards, Dining Dollars, and Expre$$ Cash. You can add funds onto your Eastern ID.
  • Plexiglass has been installed in all of our dining locations to help protect our valued customers and associates.
  • Updated hours of operation and menus can be found on our Dining Services website.
  • Floor decals and signs have been installed for guests to follow proper distancing and flow of service.
  • Card readers have been installed at each register to allow guests to swipe their own Eastern ID. This option is used for meal plans, Dining Dollars, and Expre$$ Cash.

Hours of Operation

HURLEY HALL

For the fall 2020 semester (starting August 23, 2020), the hours of operation for Hurley Hall will be Monday through Friday 7:15-9:30 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for lunch and 4-8 p.m. for dinner. On the weekends, Hurley will be open 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. for brunch, and 5-8 p.m. for dinner.

Very similar to restaurants, students will be required to wear face masks while getting their food but will be able to take them off once seated in the dining room. We will be offering students takeout meals to go if desired, as we are currently looking at 50 percent seating capacity in the dining room. All food in Hurley will be served by Chartwells associates to ensure the safety of guests and staff.

FOOD COURT

The Student Center Food Court will be open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. and will be open from 2-9 p.m. on the weekends. Modified services will be available, with a focus on increasing the amount of prepackaged food to-go. New this year is a mobile pre-order/pre-pay app that can be downloaded onto customers’ cell phones. More information on the app will be available when students return to campus.
