Dropping Off Belongings

Time blocks for belongings drop-off

  • All residential students should have already signed-up for a time to come to campus to drop your belongings off. Students will only be allowed into the residence halls for the day/time they have signed up for.
  • The early drop-off of belongings will take place August 10th-21st with a time block of 2pm-5pm and another block of 7pm-10pm.
  • To maintain social distancing, only 10 students per residence hall, per time block will be bringing belongings at a time.
  • If you have not signed up for a time to bring your belongings, you will need to email Sonya Alicea at aliceas@easternct.edu to sign up for an available day/time.
  • Returning students will need to bring their university fob with them so that they will have access to their residence hall and room. Your fob will be activated for you to enter your residence hall of the day and time block of your belonging drop-off.
  • New students (first-year and transfer students) will have your room door opened for you while you are moving your belongings in.
  • Be advised, visitors will NOT be permitted in the residence halls during the official move-in on August 23rd-25th. Therefore, the only time students will be able to have non-student/non-resident helpers to assist them with moving is during the early drop-off of belongings time period.

Unloading and parking areas

  • Burnap and Crandall Halls – Students can unload on the first floor of the Shakespeare Parking Garage. Please park in a legitimate space while unloading. Once belongings are unloaded, cars should be moved to the upper levels of the Shakespeare Garage or any level of the Cervantes Garage.
  • Burr and Shafer Halls – Students can park and unload in the Burr/Shafer Hall Parking Lot off of High Street.
  • Constitution Hall – Students can unload along the sidewalk of Windham Street Extension (alongside Eastern Hall and the side of Constitution Hall). Someone must remain with the vehicle and the vehicle must be moved to the Library Parking Lot after it is unloaded.
  • High Rise and Low Rise (WSA) – Students can park and unload from any parking space surrounding the WSA Complex. Parking spaces behind the Science Building can also be used.
  • Laurel and Nutmeg Halls – Students can park and unload in the residential student parking lot next to the Knight House.

Cars should enter campus via Charter Oak Road (the Public Safety Office entrance off of High Street). At the second stop sign, cars can pull onto the sidewalk and unload belongings. Someone must remain with the vehicle at all times and the vehicle must be moved to the Student Center Parking Lot or the Cervantes Garage once unloaded.

  • Occum Hall – Students can park and unload from any parking space on the parking lot side of Occum Hall.

Helpers, equipment, and elevators

  • During the early drop-off of belongings, there will not be any university staff or volunteers to assist with moving. Therefore, students are permitted to bring no more than four people to assist with moving items to the rooms.
  • Be advised, visitors will NOT be permitted in the residence halls during the official move-in on August 23rd-25th. Therefore, the only time students will be able to have non-student/non-resident helpers to assist them with moving is during the early drop-off of belongings time period.
  • Although we will have some moving carts available in the lobbies of each residence hall (those that have elevators) for people to use while moving, students are encouraged to bring their own hand-truck or cart if they have one.
    • Those who use a university cart should be sure to bring the cart back to the lobby so that others may use it.
  • Due to social distancing, elevator capacities will be limited. Families that came together can use the elevators without restriction.

Campus mask & social distancing policies

  • Masks MUST be worn by all individuals while in common/public areas while moving.
