Suffrage Revisited

The Women’s Center, the History Department, and the Black Student Union invite you to attend a virtual talk with Dr. Brittney Yancy and Librarian Technician, Elise Browne as they discuss the erasure of Black women and their organizing efforts during the Women’s Suffrage Movement in the early 1900s. Black women played an instrumental role in getting women the vote although white women consistently pushed them out of the movement. This year is the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage and an election year, this event aims to educate and motivate students to critically assess the systems around them and to get out and vote. Please reach out to witkes@easternct.edu or 860-465-5510 with questions.
