Steps to Take Before Applying

Studying Abroad does require some advance planning. You will want to do some preparation before submitting an application.

  • Meet with your Academic Advisor to determine if studying abroad is a good option for you
  • Research your program options under the program tab
  • Visit the Study Abroad Office to learn more about the study abroad programs and the application process
  • Meet the staff in the Study Abroad Office to let them know you are interested in a program


  • Good academic and judicial standing at time of application and departure
  • Must be a sophomore or a junior (seniors must get approval)
  • Completed study abroad application and required forms
  • GPA of at least 2.5 at time of application and departure

How to Apply

Once you are ready to apply to the program of your choice and have spoken with an International Study Abroad Staff member:

  • Complete the study abroad application and return it to a Study Abroad Staff member
  • Once accepted into a program, student will receive a folder containing required forms
  • All forms must be completed before a student will be permitted to study abroad

After Being Accepted

International Study – Application Checklist

  • Make an appointment with the Financial Aid Office, in order to discuss your Eastern financial aid options for your semester abroad
  • Meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss and plan the academic component of your preferred study abroad programs
  • Meet with Advisement Center and Department Chair to get classes approved for credit transfer
  • Advise Housing that you will be studying abroad, in order to ensure on-campus housing upon your return

Application Forms

  • To ensure students meet with the International Study Abroad staff, forms will no longer be available online. Students can ask for these forms to be emailed to them electronically or come to the study abroad office to obtain them.
