Labor Relations and Human Resource Management Major Learning Outcomes

  • Upon completion of the LRHRM major, students will be able to demonstrate disciplinary knowledge by:

    • Identifying the fundamental concepts of how economic systems influence workers
    • Identifying the main theories (including applications) of industrial-organizational psychology
    • Identifying the fundamental concepts of labor and employment relations systems
  • Upon completion of the LRHRM major, students will be able to demonstrate critical thinking by:

    • Identifying an issue or problem to be addressed
    • Evaluating complex information pertinent to the issue or problem
    • Stating the assumptions and limitation of the information
    • Formulating well-reasoned conclusions about the issue or problem
  • Upon completion of the LRHRM major, students will be able to demonstrate communication by:

    • Identifying the purpose of the communication (written, oral, and/or digital) in the work context
    • Using communication medium (written, oral, and/or digital) with clarity, fluency and without errors
    • Demonstrating professional presentation skills
    • Utilizing discipline appropriate terminology in communication (written, oral and/or digital)
  • Upon completion of the LRHRM major, students will be able to demonstrate ethical reasoning by:

    • Identifying ethical issues pertaining to work and employment
    • Critiquing ethical arguments (those of self and other stakeholders) pertaining to work and employment
    • Formulating an ethical decision on the employment issue
  • Upon completion of the LRHRM major, students will be able to demonstrate quantitative literacy by:

    • Explaining quantitative information pertinent to employment issues
    • Analyzing quantitative data
    • Using information in quantitative forms (such as table, graphs, charts, etc.)
    • Formulating decisions using appropriate quantitative information
