Fall Vaccination Information

On Thursday, June 24, the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education approved a policy that will require that all students in the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities System, including Eastern, must be vaccinated to attend classes and engage in on-ground campus activities this fall.

Students will need to provide their CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card to verify they have been vaccinated. The policy will allow for medical and non-medical exemptions:

Medical Exemption

Non-Medical Exemption

Students should submit a PDF or photo of their vaccination card as an attachment to

The COVID-19 vaccine is free of charge and readily available to the public; please visit the Connecticut Vaccine Portal to find a FREE vaccine provider near you. Information on the vaccine is also available at Vaccine Requirement FAQs.

Fully vaccinating all students will help Eastern move quickly and safely beyond COVID-19 and create a healthy campus community where students can study and live safely. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Pursuant to recently enacted Executive Orders 13G and 13F, and an agreement between the Board of Regents and the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF), all Connecticut Colleges and University System (CSCU) employees must be fully vaccinated, or partially vaccinated with a second vaccine shot scheduled, no later than September 27, 2021. Exemptions from the vaccination mandate may be granted for certain religious, medical, or non-medical reasons.

Employees who are not vaccinated, for whatever reason, or decline to provide their vaccination status may be required to undergo weekly COVID testing beginning on or after September 27, 2021. Unvaccinated employees may also be required to utilize their own leave accruals, if any, to cover absences due to a positive test or related need to quarantine or be in isolation.

The State of Connecticut is currently negotiating proof of vaccination status and testing protocols for employees covered by classified bargaining units. The University will cover the cost of on-campus weekly testing for unvaccinated AAUP and SUOAF members. Arrangements are underway for testing to be conducted on campus beginning the week of September 27 and employees who must be tested will be contacted directly to schedule testing. There are no exemptions from the testing requirement.

If you have not already done so, please fill out the survey at and provide your vaccination status. The Office of Human Resources will contact employees who indicated they will request an exemption from vaccination to obtain any necessary documentation.

All records related to vaccination status will be kept secure and confidential. Please note that only Human Resources staff are permitted to ask employees their vaccine status and/or to change the parameters of employee work activities based on vaccination status. Questions about the survey or vaccination protocols can be referred to the Office of Human Resources at
