Lora LeeProfile

Professor Lee is a multimedia artist and designer who specializes in helping businesses and publishers create engaging and exciting content. Proficient in a wide range of traditional and digital tools, Professor Lee enjoys crafting graphic designs, editorial and commercial illustrations, as well as 2D and 3D animations. She has collaborated with numerous clients on both national and international scales and holds an MFA in illustration and an MBA from the University of Hartford.

How did you end up at Eastern?

“Having been immersed in both Eastern and Western cultures, I have always had a passion for diverse subjects and exploring interdisciplinary projects. The Eastern Connecticut State University community is known for its close-knit nature, where collaborative learning and a commitment to a liberal arts mission are fostered and celebrated. I take pride in being a part of it.”

What is your favorite course to teach?

“I derive great satisfaction from instructing introductory courses in digital art. Our entry-level classes encompass a wide range of fundamental design skills, guiding students on an exhilarating voyage of exploration. I am consistently thrilled when witnessing students’ creative expressions and their astonishment at their accomplishments with digital tools.”

Creative interests

“I have been practicing in the fields of graphic design, illustration and animation. In recent years, my primary focus has shifted towards assisting businesses in thriving by creating captivating and dynamic content. Proficient in various media and digital tools, I customize my designs to align seamlessly with the client’s identity, infusing their brands with vitality, personality and character.”

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Eastern?

“The positive academic atmosphere and small class sizes enable me to offer an immersive classroom experience and establish closer relationships with my students. I consider it a privilege to get to know my students on a personal level and witness their growth and achievements throughout their time at Eastern.”

What is your teaching philosophy?

“As a multi-media artist, my teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that art and design are powerful tools for communication, self-expression and problem-solving. I aim to inspire and empower my students to become not only skilled practitioners but also critical thinkers, adaptable creatives and responsible contributors to the visual culture.”

Advice to students?

“If you are passionate about graphic design and art, start by building a strong foundation in the fundamentals of design, typography and visual aesthetics. Invest time in honing your technical skills with software like Adobe Creative Suite. Create a diverse portfolio showcasing your creativity and versatility, and consider internships or freelance projects to gain practical experience. Stay up to date with industry trends, network with professionals, and never stop learning and experimenting with new ideas and techniques. Your dedication, continuous improvement and ability to adapt will be your keys to success in the dynamic field of graphic design and art.”
