Shopping Center Bibliography

Listed are generally available books and articles that deal with shopping centers and malls in the United States and Canada, primarily as social and cultural phenomena in a historical context. These are primarily academic writings, but a few popular articles are included. Works dealing with the commercial aspects of shopping malls, such as marketing, management, and finances, are generally not included unless they make broader social or cultural connections. See the separate bibliographies of shopping mall fiction and children's literature set in shopping malls. This is a continuing project and suggestions for additions are welcome.

Most recent additions: 2006 September 15.
