| Open Rank Professor: Sustainable Energy Science - Endowed Chair |
The Department of Environmental Earth Science (EES) at Eastern Connecticut State University invites applications for a tenure-track sustainable energy science endowed chair (open rank) starting fall of 2013. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in geoscience, physics, environmental science or related science field by August 26, 2013 with expertise in sustainable energy science. Experience in energy geoscience is required; knowledge of built environments and/or alternative energy is preferred. Applicants must demonstrate an aptitude for teaching undergraduates, and interest in leading sustainable energy initiatives on campus. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in sustainable energy science, green buildings and additional courses in support of the Sustainable Energy Science (SES) track in the EES major and SES minor. EES recently received exemplary program status and seeks a new colleague to further its mission. The candidate will develop a research program in energy science that involves undergraduate students and is related to energy geoscience, climate change, or energy-related environmental fields. Additional expectations include participation in the University’s liberal arts core curriculum, academic advisement, continued professional development, and service on the Green Campus Committee. Relevant teaching experience is required. Applicants at all academic career levels will be considered. This position includes a 1 course teaching reduction per semester, a supporting budget, and opportunities to interact with the Institute for Sustainable Energy.

| Assistant Professor: Environmental Geospatial Science |
The Department of Environmental Earth Science (EES) at Eastern Connecticut State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in environmental geospatial science starting fall of 2013. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. by August 26, 2013 in geoscience, physical geography, or natural resources with expertise in geospatial science. Proficiency in using ArcGIS v. 10/10.1 suite of software is required; expertise in remote sensing would be considered an advantage. Teaching responsibilities include introductory through advanced GIS courses and involvement in the liberal arts curriculum. The successful candidate must demonstrate an aptitude for teaching undergraduates; relevant teaching experience is preferred. Research interests should complement those of existing faculty (energy geoscience, geomorphology, hydrogeology, sedimentology, and tectonics) and a commitment to engaging undergraduate students is expected. | Assistant Professor: Environmental Geoscience |
The Department of Environmental Earth Science (EES) at Eastern Connecticut State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in environmental geoscience starting fall of 2013. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in geoscience by August 26, 2013 with expertise in environmental issues, and the ability to contribute to one or more of the following areas: climate change, shallow geophysics, low temperature geochemistry or engineering geology. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in their area of expertise that support the geoscience and sustainable energy tracks of the EES major, as well as involvement in the liberal arts curriculum. The successful candidate must demonstrate an aptitude for teaching undergraduates; relevant teaching experience is preferred. Research interests should complement those of existing faculty (energy geoscience, geomorphology, hydrogeology, sedimentology, and tectonics) and a commitment to undergraduate research is expected.
