The Meaning of "THE DESERT"
By Edmond Chibeau

"IN THE DESERT" (QT 3.7M) is a non-narrative story and may be read paradigmatically, or syntagmatically.

As the eye [I (face) (becomes visible)], sees [becomes whole]

the Anima [ideal other (imago)] departs [transforms]

the shards of the mirror stage

[offer a jagged reflection (and then disappear)]

one [truth lover] discovers oneself [to be]

solo [eremite (cenobite) (hermit) {in truth}quite alone]

 and in solitude
resolves the fetish

as a kind [of] sharing

while even that is an offering]

or to put it another way...

As the eye sees the Anima departs the shards of the mirror stage.

 One discovers oneself, solo

and in solitude resolves the fetish

 as a kind sharing

while even that is an offering.

SYNTAGM = He becomes aware that she has left, the world crumbles, truth lover, solo.
