10×10 Campaign

Thursday, February 26, 2015 | 3 pm – 4 pm | Student Center, Room 115

The 10×10 Campaign is open to any man or boy who wants to take action to prevent intimate partner violence, dating violence and stalking in their community. Even though most men are not part of the problem, they must be part of the solution. Men and boys are well-positioned to talk to other men and boys about preventing intimate partner violence.

Increasing your own awareness on the issue of intimate partner violence is merely the first step. With the tools that the 10×10 Campaign will give you, you can carry on the conversation and make others aware of the impact intimate partner violence, dating violence, and stalking have on society. For more information, contact Julie Hoagland at 860-457-4751. This event is sponsored by Eastern Connecticut State University, the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and United Services, Inc. It is free and open to the public.

Welcome Back

The Spring 2015 semester just kicked off this week and we’re happy to see everyone back! We’re also excited to share the new Cultural Celebrations Calendar. There are plenty of events on it that discuss a variety of topics, thanks to the collaboration between the Women’s Center, Intercultural Center, Pride Room, CAB, and other departments. We will be blogging about the events in more detail as they get closer. We also plan to have post-event reflections written by our Student Ambassadors, discussing the events in case you missed them. For now, we want to highlight the upcoming events put on by the Women’s Center:

  • A Way with Words
  • The Spirit of Isabella Beecher Hooker
  • HIV: A Life Sentence
  • Ella T. Grasso Distinguished Service Awards
  • A Talk with Duane de Four
  • Save Wiyabi Project
  • Take Back the Night

There will be even more events throughout the semester, that weren’t able to make it onto the Cultural Celebrations Calendar. So stay tuned!
