Visual Arts Department Bus Trip

 

Please join us on the New York trip on Friday March 9th 2012. The cost will be $40 per person. A check or money order is acceptable when delivered to the Visual Arts Departmetn office. It will be an all day trip so plan accordingly.

Where Should the Birds Fly?: A Film Screening

 

Join us in a screening of “Where Should the Birds Fly?,” the first film ever made by a Palestinian film maker.  Following  the devastating attack on Gaza in December 2008, the film tells a remarkable story of two young Palestinian women who struggle to maintain humanity, humor and hope against the brutality imposed upon them. Directors Brian Drolet and Fida Qishta will be present.

University Hour Lecture Series: Performance by Andrea Herrera

 

Cubans from various waves of the migration and their descendants piece together a complex mosaic of the exile experience and diasporic identity. Join Andrea Herrea in discussing her book of testimonies that offer different perspectives on Cuban diaspora and what it means to be Cuban in exile.

Visit Cuba with Professor Gail Gelburd, chair of the Visual Arts Department, who will be leading an exciting and informative Global Field Course to Cuba in May 2012. Travel with Professor Gelburd, who has been visiting Cuba for 20 years, and other Eastern students to learn about the history, art and culture of Cuba. You will also have the rare opportunity to go behind the scenes to visit Cuban artists in their homes and studios.
