About readabout.me
Eastern Connecticut State University wants to make sure that students are recognized for their accomplishments. The University uses a web-based platform called www.readabout.me to publicize your accomplishments —making the dean’s list, completing a study abroad program, conducting student research, playing on a successful athletic team, or winning a scholarship, for example. This platform allows us to send news items about your achievements to your hometown newspapers, and also publishes them on the web at http://readabout.me/edu/eastern-connecticut-state-university.
How to manage your profile
Your online reputation is important — 75 percent of employers Google an applicant’s name at some point in the hiring process. By using readabout.me, Eastern will help ensure that you have a positive online profile and that employers can easily discover your achievements. When Eastern issues news stories about your accomplishments, you’ll receive an email with a link to view your story online. You can connect to your “profile” using Facebook, add your photo, and share your achievement with friends and family and manage your profile—adding additional information about your club participation and other campus activities as well as work experience. Think of your readabout.me profile. To find out more about readabout.me and how to manage your own.me profile, click here.
Opt-out option
You always have the option to “opt-out” of publicity about your success by following the University’s opt-out process. You can ask that all information about you at Eastern be designated as confidential, including FERPA directory information, but simply contacting the Registrar’s Office.
