- Strengthen and prioritize undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate environmental studies, research, and policy programs
- Teach energy and environmental literacy to all students
- Increase opportunities for using the campus physical plant and business operations as a "learning lab" for students
- Develop community energy and environmental education programs and facilitate dialogue about energy and environmental issues in the community
- Take an Interdisciplinary approach in which students of various different age groups, majors and cultures interactively through seminars, projects, and course work gain interest and learn about a lifetime of sustainable living
