It's not easy being green! - Kermit T. Frog   Home K-12 Schools 12 Steps Toward Sustainability

K-12 schools have an obligation to operate in a manner that is ecologically and socially sound, as well as economically viable. Sustainability is the middle ground, where environment, society, and economics meet. Schools need to consider all three when making planning and operational decisions. K-12 schools are being asked to support regional, national and worldwide climate change efforts. These include actions to educate, lower emissions, and reduce dependency on fossil fuels. Organizations are also internally driven to reduce unnecessary costs for maintenance and energy expenditures. K-12 schools should become "Learning Laboratories" for the future citizens and leaders of the world.
