Universities have an obligation to operate in a manner that is ecologically and socially sound, as well as economically viable. To do this they need to act in a sustainable manner considering all three when planning and making operational decisions. The twelve steps to sustainability listed here act as a guideline toward sustainability, each with links to universities currently practicing the best methods in their category.  There are also helpful links to organizations for colleges and universities who want help becoming more sustainable.
