Mission- The Office of Student Transition Services (OSTS) assists all new first-year and transfer students in making a successful transition into Eastern. The OSTS is responsible for the administration of the academic component of the First-Year Experience and for providing support to transfer students to facilitate their transition into Eastern.

First-Year Experience- The First-Year Experience (FYE) is designed to assist all new first-year students in the transition to Eastern’s campus. FYI 100, First-Year Introduction, is the academic component of Eastern’s First-Year Experience. This course is designed to give first-time, full-time students a rich and comprehensive introduction to academics, campus life and the liberal arts philosophy at Eastern. In the fall semester of their first year at Eastern, students will sign up for FYI 100. In this 3-credit introductory course, students will gain the necessary skills of good scholarship and work closely and interactively in a small class with a faculty member, a peer mentor and fellow classmates. Students will also be acquainted with resources and services available on campus, as well as clubs, activities and other programs vital to the Eastern experience.

Transfer Student Services-The Office of Student Transition Services (OSTS), part of the Academic Services Center, is designed to provide guidance to transfer students. The OSTS is responsible for helping transfer students navigate the campus and plan for a timely graduation. To this end, the OSTS advocates for transfer students and acts as a liaison with campus departments. Additionally, the OSTS can assist with resolving concerns regarding transfer credits. Transfer students are encouraged to contact the OSTS staff to receive assistance with any issue they may have.
