Subject Directories
The following websites are helpful in finding information within a variety of subject areas. They are good sources for ready reference with access to almanacs, dictionaries and encyclopedias. Also included are links for tutorials and how-to guides, news and current events, directories for finding periodicals, calculation and conversion tools, writing guides, telephone and address directories, weather, time zones, biographies, census data, genealogy and more.
The Internet Public Library is a public service organization at the University of Michigan School of Information. This website contains an abundance of Internet resources for Ready Reference, Searching Tools, Arts and Humanities, Business, Computers, Education, Entertainment, Health, Law and Government, Regional Information, Science and Technology and the Social Sciences.
A searchable and annotated subject directory of Internet resources that have been selected and evaluated by librarians. Subject areas include Arts and Humanities, Business, Computers, Government, Health, Law, Media and much more.
This website covers topic areas such as Search Engines, Art, Books Online, Business, Consumer, Economic and Job Data, Finance and Investing, General Research, Government Data, International, Law and Politics, Library of Congress, Medical and Health, Science and Transportation.
Refdesk provides a searchable, organized list of free websites for Fast Facts, Quick Reference/Research and a Facts Subject Index. It also includes Newspapers - USA & Worldwide, Search Engine Resources, Internet Help, Writing Web Documents and much more. A good Site for reference and daily facts but it does contain some advertising.

This site was compiled by an ECSU librarian. Links to many free government websites for Connecticut state and federal information. Canadian sites are also included.
This is not about insurance but it is the Connecticut Consumer Health Information Network. A program for Connecticut residents to obtain health information. Select Internet Resources to view a subject listing to resources for allergies, alternative medicine, cancer, diseases, nutrition, diet, fitness and more. An added service allows Connecticut residents to ask a librarian to research a personal medical question. See the Healthnet homepage for details.
A variety of health information from the U. S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Includes current health news and press announcements, interactive tutorials, clinical trials, senior health, surgery videos, and many topics on conditions, diseases, and wellness. Also includes information on medicines, herbs and supplements, access to a medical encyclopedia and dictionary, directories for finding doctors, dentists and hospitals, and resources to local health services.
