Geography Resources @ Smith Library

Reference Sources at Smith Library   Encyclopedias and other reference books can be a good place to start a research project: They are designed to provide authoritative information; they can give you an overview of a new, unfamiliar topic; and they should provide a bibliography of sources to examine.  They are intended to be authoritative, but ideas change and new trends develop, so evaluate these sources with the same critical acumen you use on other sources of information.

Journals: Finding articles and using research databases   Help with finding articles in geography journals and using the ECSU Journal locator.  For more help searching databases or locating journals visit or call the library’s reference desk.

Web Resources   This page contains links to information on Eastern’s geography program, professional geography associations, and a few reputable websites that focus on geography.  For tips on evaluating information found on the Internet, follow this link.
