LIBRARY RESOURCES FOR ALUMNI

______________________________________________________

From this page ECSU Alumni will be able to find out how to get a Community Borrower Card; ask a librarian for help; connect to the CONSULS library catalog to search the Connecticut State University System holdings; learn how to evaluate websites; search or browse subject directories for Internet resources; link to the library archives; find out how to make use of your state's public library databases.

For those who have not visited the library in several years, a pleasant surprise awaits you. The library has been transformed both inside and out boasting a beautiful 127,000 square foot building containing state of the art technology and resources. The library's databases are available for use by ECSU alumni within the J. Eugene Smith Library. ECSU alumni are welcome and encouraged to use our public workstations on-site by providing a photo ID at the 2nd floor reference desk.

If you are unable to visit us to use the library's databases on-site, we have included links to your state library databases/resources in the following section. We have also provided links to several free websites (see Internet Resources at left) that will be very helpful in answering reference questions and finding subject-specific information.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or comments about the alumni library pages. Contact: reichardtc@easternct.edu

iCONN and Other State Resources

Connecticut Residents: iCONN is part of the Connecticut Education Network, the Connecticut State Library and the Department of Higher Education. It provides all students, faculty, and residents of Connecticut with free online access to high-quality research and information resources. Some of the iCONN resources include access to business and company information, full-text journal and magazine articles, newspapers, health and wellness resources, biographical information, readers advisory, e-books, general reference for adults and children, as well as history and science resources. Simply enter your Connecticut library barcode into the iCONN login screen from the link provided at left to begin. Barcodes are assigned by your local library when you apply for a public library card.

Most states offer their residents similar resources. Besides Connecticut, links to free research databases and resources have been included for Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. For other states, please contact your local public library to find out how you can gain access to your particular state's library resources. For purposes of interlibrary loan, your local library is also available to assist you in this process.
