Digital Art & Design Resources @ Smith Library
____________________________________________________________________
The following sources provide authoritative information and starting points for research on the topic of digital art & design. This list is not intended to be comprehensive, but rather a first step. The reference staff is always pleased to assist in the use of any of the library's resources and services.
Our online catalog. This is where you can find books, journal & magazine titles (NOT articles), & media (DVDs, CDs, videos) in the library's collection by using the online catalog, CONSULS.
You can find articles, many full-text, by searching in our subscription research databases. In addition to articles, these databases include references to book reviews and essays that are included in anthologies. This is usually a better place to start academic research than a general web search engine, such as Google or Yahoo.
Encyclopedias and other reference books can be a good place to start a research project. They are designed to provide information and give you an overview of a new or unfamiliar topic. They can also provide a bibliography of sources for further research.
There is a lot of interesting information on the web, but also a lot of misinformation which you do not want to use in an academic research project. Examine your web resources carefully.
