Environmental Earth Science
Resources @ Smith Library
Articles: Using research databases and journals
Journal and magazine articles, many in
full-text and from scholarly publications, can be found by searching in the
library’s subscription databases, which are preferable to general Web search
engines, such as Google or Yahoo, for academic research.
Books: Using the online catalog
Books, journal and magazine titles (NOT
individual articles), and media (CDs, DVDs, videos) on Environmental Earth
Science can be found in Smith Library's print and electronic collections by
using the CSU system online catalog, CONSULS.
Reference Sources: Print and online
Encyclopedias and other reference materials
can be a good place to start a research project. They are designed to provide authoritative
information on a subject area. They can offer
an overview of a new, unfamiliar topic, and they often provide a bibliography
of other sources to examine.
Here are a few recommended sites
with which to start finding interesting and useful information on the Web. The Web also has much misinformation that
would not be useful, especially for an academic research project. For tips on evaluating information found on
the Internet, follow
this link.
