New Masters Program in Cognitive Neuroscience at CUNY Accepting Students for Fall 2018

The Graduate Center of the City University of New York has launched a new master’s program in cognitive neuroscience that is now accepting applicants for the Spring 2018 semester. Dr. Lanagan-Leitzel received the following information by email:

“Our M.S. in Cognitive Neuroscience is an affordable, 32-credit program designed for exceptional students with diverse backgrounds who wish to gain knowledge of the biological bases of cognitive functions, including perception, attention, memory, language, and decision making. Students will have opportunities to get involved with leading edge research in CUNY’s state-of-the-art facilities that house several electroencephalography (EEG) systems, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) units, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) systems, a fast signal optical imaging system, and a new research-dedicated Siemens Prisma 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner at the Advanced Science Research Center.

Students in our program will learn the best ways to conduct research in cognitive neuroscience by collecting and analyzing data in addition to taking coursework that covers areas such as the neuroscience of consciousness, the neural basis of decision making, language acquisition, attention, and learning and memory. World-renowned cognitive neuroscientists who are doctoral-level faculty members from throughout CUNY teach our courses and lead research projects.

Our program helps students build a bridge between cognitive neuroscience and its applications in the fields that interest them, such as biotechnology, health care, medical imaging, social media, data science, forensics, and linguistics, to name a few.

We are located in midtown Manhattan, within easy reach of some of today’s most prestigious hospitals, largest tech companies, and most exciting startups. Students can learn more and apply online at http://www.gc.cuny.edu/cognitiveneuroscience.”

An information session will be held Wednesday, March 14th, between 4 and 6 PM.
