Lavender Graduation

Lavender Graduation

When: Monday, April 24th, 2017 from 6pm-8pm
Where: Johnson Room, Library
Reception with refreshments to follow immediately after the ceremony.

We were excited to announce that Kate Bornstein would be the 2017 Lavender Graduation keynote speaker. “Celebrated transgender trailblazer Kate Bornstein has — with humor and spunk — ushered us into a world of limitless possibility through a daring re-envisionment of the gender system as we know it. Kate lives on the edge of paradox: she is not a man, and not a woman. She looks beyond the binary to see gender as both a conscious practice, and a playful journey.” We thank Kate Bornstein for giving a great keynote speech that was sure to leave a lasting impression on our seniors who graduated.

What is Lavender Graduation?
Lavender Graduation is an opportunity to celebrate the many achievements of our graduating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex students and their allies. This allows us to celebrate the various academic, community, and personal achievements of our LGBTQ+ graduates while acknowledging the unique and challenging experiences that many LGBTQ+ students have had to navigate during their college career.
