career information, writings, critical information and points to additional
sources of information. Indexes now appear in alternative volumes. Entries are written keeping in mind that children, as well as adults, are expected to use this resource. Most have photographs accompanying the article. Covers international as well as United States authors. Approximately 15 autobiographies per volume.

Provides access to characters in children’s literature. The author has
included the best known characters who are central to the book’s plot
in which they appear. It is an alphabetic listing with cross references.
Entries range from several lines to several pages and lists the author
and title of the work the character appears in. This book also includes
many illustrations from familiar children’s books. top

Children's catalog. Reference PN1009.A1 C525 1991

This volume is two things: a classified list of the best children’s books in
fiction and non-fiction and an extensive index. The classified list is in
Dewey decimal call number order and provides excerpts of reviews for
each book. The index is a combined author, title and subject index.
The subject index can also be useful to scholars since adult interest
topics (i.e., "Children’s Literature – History and Criticism") are included.
