English 462 Research Report

Research Report Assignment: Present an oral report to the class describing the effectiveness of some research method, strategy, or source (databases, library feature, journal, bibliography, website, etc.) that you have adopted over the course of your research.

For this assignment you can describe a particular method you have used to retrieve documentation or to obtain hard-to-find articles or books. You can describe a strategy, such as a particular way of organizing notes or keeping track of sources or data. You can describe a particularly useful source, such as a library database (J-Stor, MLA Bibliography), feature (Inter-library loan, reference librarians), journal (War, Literature, and the Arts: An International Journal of the Humanities), bibliographic item (online bibliography, published bibliography like Reed and Baepler's Kurt Vonnegut: A Selected Bibliography, 1985-1992), website (Spartucus Educational's "World War One Literature" website), etc.

You will probably want to explain the basic features of your topic to the class. Explain step-by-step how to use it/do it? Maybe demonstrate in class? (It is possible to use the computers in the library itself if your method is online).
Why do you find the particular method useful? How has the method improved the quality of your research or made it easier? Have you discovered any drawbacks or particular things to keep in mind when using?
Any aspects of your subject or other methods you would definitely NOT recommend?

Though you may provide a written version I will grade your oral presentation only.
