Honors and Awards:

 

2005: The Oskar Halecki Prize for the best book on Polish-American topics for The Exile Mission: The Polish Political Diaspora and Polish Americans, 1939-1956.  Athens: Ohio University Press, 2004. This award recognizes an important book or monograph on the Polish experience in the United States. Eligibility is limited to works of historical and/or cultural interest, including those from related fields in the social sciences or humanities, published in 2003 and 2004. The prize honors Oskar Halecki [1891-1973], eminent Polish-born historian who was also a co-founder and charter member of the Polish American Historical Association (PAHA; established in 1942, PAHA is a national scholarly organization to promote study and research in the history of Americans of Polish descent).

2003: The Joseph Swastek Prize for the best article in Polish American Studies for the article “The Mobilization of American Polonia for the Displaced Persons Cause,” Polish American Studies 58 (2001): 29-62. (The prize is administered by  PAHA).

2002: The Joseph Swastek Prize for the best article in Polish American Studies for the article “Polish Post-World War II Diaspora: An Agenda for a New Millennium.” Polish American Studies 57 (2000): 45-66.

2001: George Kulczycki Award (PAHA) for the best book manuscript “The Exile Mission: Polish
