    Theatre of England (YAT) for two
    Weeks of Intensive learning.

    # Classes and productions held in Eastern's Harry Hope Theatre, a newly renovated, state-of-the-art black box theatre which houses computerized lighting and telescope flexible seating.
    # Opportunities onstage, backstage, and  front-of-house.
    # Workshops with the YAT Troupe which will introduce you to their methods of preparation for performance.

    Summer '98 marks the third summer residency of the Youth Action Theatre of England at Eastern. In 1995 the troupe performed Cider with Rosie, directed by DavidLewsey and in 1996 they performed ,i>Juno and the Paycock, directed by Eric Yardley. Founded by Eric Yardleyin 1970, YAT is dedicated to stimulating the love of drama and theatre through drama workshops and production experience for young people, ages 16 to 25. A full array of theatre staff will accompany the director and actors.

    THE 272 Introduction to Acting          3 credits
    Vocal and physical exercises, improvisations,and scenes are employed in order to master the techniques of character development.

Ellen Faith Brodie is the Managing Director of Theatre at Eastern. She will facilitate the Introduction to Acting class. She has a BA, MA and MFA in Theatre and has been teaching/directing at the university level since 1974. She was a casting director at major New York advertising agencies; and had extensive professional training in acting, voice, children's theatre and visual art.
Bob Ritz is the Technical Director of Theatre at Eastern. He will oversee the backstage work on the YAT production. He holds an MFA in Scene Design and has designed sets for Connecticut Repertory Theatre and the Producing Guild as well as television. Ritz has his own production company, Integrity Design Works, and has done special projects with the Hartford Ballet and Foxwoods Casino in CT.
