Short Stuff: 2000original 10-minute plays written in ECSU's Playwrighting

class last fall (taught by Barbara Molette, Professor of English) will be presented

Off-Broadway as part of the CSU Theatre-In-New York Showcase of Student

Talent and Tour. Student directors, actors and playwrights are the featured artists in

this festival of 10-minute plays which runs Wednesday, May 24th, through

Saturday, May 27th at the Phil Bosakowski Theatre (354 West 45th St., NYC).

ECSU Advanced Directing students (taught by Ellen Brodie, Director of

Theatre) selected and analyzed the plays, cast the actors and embarked on the

director's journey of bringing a play from page to stage. The culmination of

their creative talents was presented in the Harry Hope Theatre at ECSU at the end of the

Spring semester. Now, some of the plays from the original Short Stuff: 2000

have been selected to be performed in NYC.

Short Stuff: 2000   will be presented in the minimalist tradition of utilizing black

cubes to suggest the various environments enhanced by props, sound and lighting. The

focus is on the characters, their relationships and situations. The 10-minute play

format is a popular one throughout the USA. Audiences fully engage in each play

and enjoy the impact of swift change from one to another.
