Ellen Faith Brodie, Professor (BA, MA, MFA) is the Director of Theatre at Eastern Connecticut State University where she oversees and facilitates a program that includes professional guest artists as teachers, directors, designers and performers on a regular basis. She began studying visual arts, voice, and acting as a child in NYC (i.e. key student at HB Studios); toured in Children's Theatre throughout NYC while in high school and college (directors Lawrence Vide, Bernard Barrow, and Wilson Lehr); studied singing with Mezzo Soprano Gertrude Arnold; was an assistant casting director of commercials, soap operas and print ads at J. Walter Thompson and Young and Rubicam in NYC; was the Artistic Director of the Eastern Connecticut Performing Arts Center (ECPAC) which toured Children's Theatre, Reader's Theatre, puppetry and musical productions throughout CT;  was a founding member of various arts councils and facilitator of arts festivals throughout eastern Connecticut; established and directs the ECSU International Summer School in London program at London Metropolitan University; plans and facilitates student/faculty annual participation at the American College Theatre Festival; plans and facilitates student/faculty and guest artist participation in the annual CSU Off-Broadway Theatre-in-New York Showcase of Student Talent; served as Assistant Chair and Chair of Fine Arts and as Chair of Performing Arts; has been teaching performance,  history and theory courses in Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Theatre with primary specialties in Acting (all levels including Period Styles and Reader's Theatre) and  Directing (all levels including Period Styles); has been directing shows on the university level since 1974 ranging from classical plays (i.e. Greek, Roman, Shakespeare, Moliere) to contemporary new works.
