Kristen Morgan designs scenery and projected media for theatrical events. She previously was the Instructor of Scenic Technology in the Department of Theatre and Cinema at Virginia Tech. Before she began teaching, she was an Associate Designer at Hotopp Associates, Ltd. in New York. Kristen's research focuses on deep collaboration with others through the exploration of live performance fused with dynamic visual mixed media. Her work also currently includes an in-depth examination of the experiences of women in theatrical design and technologies.
Past work include projects for Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave Festival, Soho Rep, The Piano Store, Richard Foreman's Ontological-Hysteric Theater, The Gravity Project, New York University, Columbia University, ESPN Winter and Summer X Games, Perrier, Stanford University, and Radio City Music Hall. Kristen has an M.F.A. in Design for Stage and Film from New York University - Tisch School of the Arts, and B.A.s in Theatre Arts and Spanish from Virginia Tech.
