Dr. Robert Lemons received his BM degree in Music Education from Boston University in 1970, the MA in Trumpet Performance from Western State College of Colorado in 1971, and a D.Mus.A. degree in Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado in 1984. His dissertation project involved teaching sight reading skills with the use of computer technology.
Dr. Lemons has studied trumpet with John Kincaid, Robert Nagel, and Roger Voisin, and has performed as trumpet soloist with the Boston University Symphony Orchestra, the Boston University Wind Ensemble, the Western State College Symphonic Band and Summer Band, and the University of Colorado Wind Ensemble, as well as performed in recitals in New England and Colorado. He is currently a member of the Thread City Brass Quintet and Classic Brass, a British style brass band.
Dr. Lemons has been a member of the faculty at Eastern Connecticut State University since 1971, during which time he has taught courses in music history, music appreciation, fine arts, class piano, music theory, directed the Concert Band for thirty five years, and served as department chair on numerous occasions.
