David Belles

David Belles joined the faculty at Eastern Connecticut State University in
August, 2002. In addition to conducting the Eastern Concert Chorale and
Chamber Singers, he teaches group and private voice instruction,
conducting and choral literature. He is formerly the music director and
conductor of the Concert Choir of Northeastern Connecticut, and served the
American Choral Directors Association as President of the Connecticut

Choirs singing under Dr. Belles’ baton have performed at notable concert
venues across the country and abroad, most recently making a solo
appearance with Eastern Concert Chorale by invitation at Carnegie Hall in
November, 2011. He remains active as clinician and adjudicator; prior to
his appointment at Eastern, Dr. Belles taught at College of Idaho, and
Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.

Conductors with whom Dr. Belles has studied include Elmer Thomas, Earl
Rivers, John Leman, William Hatcher, and Timothy Stalter. He received the
Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from the State University of New York at
Oswego, a Master¹s degree in choral conducting from the University of
Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and the DMA in choral conducting
and pedagogy from the University of Iowa.
