sports-lasto_mol_head1718_300dpi_8125For the fifth time in her career, junior Mollee Lasto (Orange) has earned an individual weekly honor from the Little East Conference after being named Swimmer-of-the-Week in the fifth report of the year ending Nov. 19.

A two-time All-LEC and five-time All-NEISDA (New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association) honoree, Lasto won the 50 (30.32) and 200 (2:20.57) events and swam the opening leg of the winning 400 medley relay (4:21.22) and anchor of the winning 400 freestyle relay (4:10.17) in victories over host Plymouth State University (PSU) and Western New England University at the PSU Natatorium.  Her time in the 200 backstroke was a season-best and her 50 backstroke time was just off her season-best mark of 30.30.

In swimming the 100 backstroke in the 400 medley relay, Lasto helped the Warriors break the PSU facility record in that event, previously set by Keene State College in 2012.

Lasto, who set program records at all three backstroke distances in the NEISDA meet as a freshman, has posted the fastest times on the team this year in the 50 and 200 backstroke and second-fastest time in the 100 backstroke.

Lasto was voted LEC Swimmer-of-the-Week in the first two reports of last year and as LEC Rookie-of-the-Week twice as a freshman. She was honored with weekly awards previously after winning the Saint Joseph Pentathlon as both a freshman and sophomore, after leading the team to wins over Western Connecticut and Rhode Island College last year and over Plymouth and WNE as a freshman.

Megan Lasto, freshman sister of Mollee, was named LEC Swimmer and Rookie-of-the-Week in consecutive weeks earlier this month.

Eastern competes in the Third Annual Connecticut Cup hosted by Wesleyan University at the Wesleyan Natatorium Dec. 2.
