Men's Lacrosse: Motivation Fueled Win over Conn

By Michael Glennon

Hello everyone,

Since I had last informed all of you we have had three more games, and  we are about to begin conference play.

We played Mount Ida at home March 19 and from the opening face-off never looked back.  I was a great victory for us that not only did we come out with a win we were able to get everyone in the game, which is important for the future success of our program.  We have a lot of talent in our younger guys and it will be very exciting to come back watch this team and a alumni and see the success of these guys in the next years to come.

Against Mount Ida,  we had more scoring coming from underclassmen than from the upperclassmen.  We knew that the Mount Ida game was a good confidence game going into a ranked Amherst College team right before the start of our spring break.  We traveled to Amherst to take on another good team to prove our worthiness as national contenders.  Unfortunately, after battling back and  forth in a high-paced game we entered our spring break without a victory.  I will tell you though that we learned a lot from that loss about the character of our team.  Although we lost, we battled every second of that game, we hustled, hit hard, and were fearless against a good team.  I know that they will be scared to play us again.  A team that gives its all and loses is a very dangerous team because we know the lengths that we are capable of.

After all returning home for home-cooked meals, clean laundry, and some "gas money" we all returned  to Eastern Saturday for practice ready to take on Connecticut College the following Tuesday under the lights.  Let me first start by saying that when a visiting team walks into your own locker room on gameday,  interfers with your space, and pregame rituals, nothing gets you more angry and salivating for a win.  With Conn College using our space we all headed down on our walk to the field with that fire in our eyes.  We knew we were about to face a good team but this one became personal.  We faced off and to their credit they battled back and forth with us never giving up.  We as a team fought adversity with penalities, and the cold night's weather.  It came down to the the last minutes when all of you that attended helped with your cheers, and home-field advantage support made us realize we knew we were going to score the game winning goal with only 30 seconds to go in regulation play.  With the cheers of our fans, lacrosse under the lights, and our powerful defense, Conn College was not even able to get off a shot in the final seconds of play.

We now look to start our conference play this Saturday when we take on Southern Maine, and for those who were there remember, it was a chippy game. So be sure to come check this game out as once again the Warriors take on a team that even chippiness and toughness don't stand ground to our desire to win.   Thank you all for your continous support and I look forward to updating you again.

Men's Lacrosse: Fast Start to the Season

by Michael Glennon

Since I had last spoken to all of you we were a day away from our first game of the season.  We are now 3 games in and despite a close loss to Stevens Tech in the season opener we are sitting at 2-1 on the season so far.  We battled Stevens  really hard throughout the entire game and the last few minutes of the fourth quarter handed us a loss.  Although the disappointing loss we knew we played hard and stuck around with a very good team.  It was a good judge of talent and character foreshadowing the rest of the season.

A few days later we took a Gordon College also at home.  We registered our first win on the season battling back and forth with them.  We eventually pulled away and was no turning back from there.  Last Wednesday, we traveled to Massachusetts to take on Babson College. We got to wear our new jerseys for the second time which we were all pumped about but more importantly we were excited about the intensity of the game and watching the away numbers on the scoreboard rise.  We registered nine different scorers with also a very strong defensive performance.  This really is a team which will turn a lot of heads this season.

With a week off from play, as a team we travelled to Norwich Free Academy this past Saturday to help with a lacrosse clinic to benefit a late Norwich lacrosse player who lost his life to cardiac arrest.  We will return play mid week when we travel to Worcester to play Becker College looking to become 3-1 on the season.
As always we thank you for your continuous support to our program and look forward to seeing you at our next outing.

Men's Lacrosse: Ready for Action!

By Michael Glennon

Hi Everyone!

It has been a long pre-season having to deal with the weather but we are in full swing and out on the turf now.  We are lucky to have much support from all of Eastern's athletic programs and supporters who have generously helped with snow removal so we can get out of the gym and on to the turf.  After four weeks in the gym, we couldn't be happier to be outside.  We open up our season in two days in a redemption game against Steven's Tech at home.
I know that everyone is anxious to see how we will be as we start this season returning all but three players from last year's team.  We have a very talented freshman class that brings even more speed, strength, and knowledge of the game to our arsenal.  We return a very talented midfield, attack group, and defense that as a group should make for a very intimidating team.
This is a team that will turn a lot of heads not only in the Little East,  but nationally as we make it a historic season.  We have all the right tools to be a successful team and knowing our goals, strength and support it should make for a great year.
We have two scrimmages under our belt already as we took on Springfield College for our first time on turf, and just a few days ago we showed Salve Regina what Eastern lacrosse is all about.
We would first like to thank you all for your support and dedication to the team and ask for your continuos support this season.  I look forward to updating everyone as the season progresses and look forward to seeing you all support our program.
