Speed, endurance, and a little bit of luck came in handy for the men of indoor track and field team Saturday at Springfield College
For many of the athletes competing, this was their last chance to qualify for the Little East Conference meet next week at the University of Southern Maine. Nick Miller sped through the 3000 meters in a fast 9:36, well below the 9:42 qualifying standard with Sam Buczek, who previously qualified in December, not far behind. Stephen White, who broke the five minute barrier last week in the mile, was able to lower his time to well under the qualifying standard in the mile with a 4:53 mark. Ryan Hughes, Casey McGarvey, Brad Beausoleil, Alejandro Hernandez, and Bryan Jorge all qualified in the 1000, posting well below the qualifying standard. In the 800, Brody Secore secured his place in the Eastern record books with a 2:01.44 time, previously 2:01.64 set in 1995. Congrats to Brody!
